Saying you can’t do something, or telling someone they can’t do something because they don’t have a degree is a dangerous statement.
Of course there are exceptions. I wouldn’t want a self taught performing heart surgery on me.
But let’s look within reason.
Do you need to go to law school to understand your rights?
Do you need to become a doctor to get to know how to stay healthy?
Do you need to go to school to learn how to be a handyman or handywoman?
Do you need a masters degree to be a good writer?
Institutional limitations can be necessary for rare cases.
They keep us safe.
But how likely is it that somebody will die if you take a chance on a new project?
Or if you give one to someone who thinks they can do it, but doesn’t have the piece of paper that tells you they can.
